Video Editing portfolio

Below you can find a selection of videos I have edited over recent years. This includes many videos made for one of the UK’s leading Muslim charities, Penny Appeal, as well as global sport broadcaster, DAZN.

I hope the edit samples show the diversity of my editing skills, with the examples being a range of length, style & purpose.

Thirst Relief Bangladesh - Penny Appeal

An example of long form documentary content created for Penny Appeal to be broadcast on British Muslim TV during Ramadan.

This feedback documentary was created to appeal to potential donors, showing how charitable donations to Penny Appeal have helped communities in Bangladesh access clean drinking water and break the poverty cycle.

Winter Campaign Kashmir - Penny Appeal

A short form feedback documentary for Penny Appeal’s social media platforms.

This video was created to show current and potential donors how their money has helped make winter easier for the people of Kashmir.

This series of feedback videos from Kashmir helped contributed to Penny Appeal’s most successful winter campaign to date.

Winter Campaign Kashmir - Penny Appeal

Another documentary as part of Penny Appeals winter feedback series from Kashmir.

Similarly to the video above, this video follows one of Penny Appeal’s beneficiaries struggling with winter in Kashmir. This emotive documentary performed well on Penny Appeals social chancels, driving donations acting as valuable feedback for those who donated to the campaign in the past.

‘Things in the News’ TikTok - Penny Appeal

As TikTok becomes more popular with older demographics, with over 75% of users now being over the age of 20, Penny Appeal we’re experimenting with which types of content perform well and have the best ROI.

As part of this experiment, I created the video shown on the left. Through research into the platform I used what I had learnt to conceptualise an idea and see it through to completion. Despite this being one of the first videos on Penny Appeal’s TikTok account, and costing no money to create, this video performed well and lead the way for videos we published on TikTok going forward.

Ramadan Reflection - Penny Appeal

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Penny Appeal had to adapt to keep delivering life-saving aid to those most in need. Ramadan 2020 was unlike no other in the way we delivered assistance and in the way our teams on the ground could document it on video. In this video I used a selection of clips, many taken on mobile phones by locals in the affected areas, along with stock footage to create a video to show donors how we addapted to deal with the challenges faced by the company. This video helped highlight to donors why their donations were more important than ever at that time and helped keep the donations to the charity consistant even as the cost of living crisis affected donors at home in the UK.

#BreakThePoveryCycle - Penny Appeal

During my time at Penny Appeal, I soon learnt the importance of being able to make the most out of all the videos and photos we received from production teams on the ground around the world. In this video I used Adobe After Effects to turn a selection of still images into more engaging ‘moving photos’. Although often subtle, adding slight movement to these still images hugely increases the impact these have on the viewer. Making water appear as if it is running or adding water droplets dripping down a child’s face, these effects all helped repurpose these still images for use in video at no extra cost.

ROAD Fighting Championship - DAZN

My time at DAZN allowed me to work on a variety of projects, covering many different sports and allowing me to gain experience in this fast paced environment. The majority of my work was for DAZN’s on demand streaming platform, however some Highlight Videos did get published on their Youtube channel as a way to reach new audiences and drive them to the paid for platform.

This video was created to show the highlights from a Mixed Martial Arts fight, available in full on DAZN’s steaming platform. This long highlight cut was used on the DAZN Boxing Youtube chancel while a shorter cut I created was published on the social media accounts of DAZN Boxing.
